Call for Papers: Historical Representation: Exploring the History of Education
The Post Graduate Conference for the History of Education Society (UK) will be hosted by the PGR Reps from the History of Education Society (UK) and will be held at the University of Winchester (University of Winchester, Sparkford Road, Winchester, SO22 4NR).
Please submit a 300 word abstract to the PGR Reps, Ellie Simpson and Catherine Holloway by the 28 February 2019 to either of the emails E.Simpson.firstname.lastname@example.org or C.Holloway.email@example.com.
A small registration fee will apply. However, for History of Education Society members the fee will not apply. Information regarding membership can be found at: http://historyofeducation.org.uk/
Applicants will be notified by 31 March 2019. The notification will include travel details, fee for non-members, itinerary, and confirmed keynotes.
This conference will explore how education is represented in society. The theme considers education in its broadest sense and is concerned with historical representation.
We are particularly interested in multidisciplinary approaches to the study of the history of education. We welcome and anticipate papers covering:
- Childhood in literature
- Educational representation and film
- Educational representation and the media
- Educational representation in Popular/Youth culture
- Educational representation in policy making
- Educational reflexivity
- Methodology, theory and historiography
- Formal/Informal education
- Representation of the body in education
Lunch will be provided free of charge. The conference will offer the chance to meet other PGR students working within the field of the History of Education.
A selection of the most thought provoking work presented at the History of Education Society PGR Conference may be published within future editions of the History of Education Researcher which is available to members of the HE Society and a range of institutional libraries both in the UK and Abroad.
