New Perspectives on New Challenges

A virtual event to be held on: Saturday 16th October 2021

The past eighteen months has presented a unique set of challenges for those engaged in post-graduate research. For many, the challenge of researching and studying during a global pandemic has led to significant revisions, different methods, adapted areas of focus and a more isolated way of working. With it, these challenges have invited new perspectives and ways of engaging in the process of ‘doing’ research. In response to these unique challenges and new perspectives the post-graduate representatives (PGR) of the History of Education Society and the Children’s History Society would like to invite you to contribute to our jointly held conference which aims to celebrate the work of PhD and ECR researchers and invites your perspective on these new challenges.

We invite contributions which engage with:

  • New ideas and discoveries from the past eighteen months
  • How you have adapted to new challenges presented by the global pandemic
  • New research methods employed during the pandemic
  • New areas of focus or adaptions to your research
  • Exciting new research that deserves to be celebrated
  • Moments which sparked new interest or renewed your passion

We want to give our post-graduate research community the opportunity to present their work in a way which suits the individual and their research. Therefore, we invite contributions in the shape of:

  • A paper
  • A poster
  • Pre-recorded presentation
  • Creative reflection
  • Archival object and analysis

This could include a reflection on the significance of an archival object, a research finding that has sparked your interest, ‘quirky’ research findings from the archives or primary sources and areas of your research that you would like to share with an interested audience.

To apply please submit an abstract (250 words maximum) which indicates your prefer method of dissemination and includes a description of your contribution. Abstracts should be sent to: [email protected] and the closing date for abstract is: 31st August 2021.
