Our Fellows

The History of Education Society is supported by two Fellows; here’s who they are and what they do:

 Jack Deasley

Peter Gosden Fellow

Jack (he/him) is responsible for managing our website and social media accounts on X and BlueSky. He is a LAHP-funded first year PhD researcher who explores British schools in the twentieth century, engaging with themes of social mobility, neoliberalism, meritocracy, and regional inequalities. Jack is also a Community Governor for a secondary school in Lincolnshire.

Tom Cryer

Richard Aldrich Fellow

Tom (he/him) is responsible for updating of the bibliographic database, Exe Libris, a much-frequented aspect of the History of Education Society UK’s website. He is a historian of education, ideas, and race in twentieth-century America, whose research focuses on the role of U.S. higher education in articulating, perpetuating, and contesting white supremacy. He finished his PhD at UCL’s Institute of the Americas in 2025 and currently works as a Departmental Lecturer at St Anne’s College, Oxford.
