To mark its 50th anniversary year, the History of Education Society invites proposals for small grants to aid activities aimed at furthering research, engagement, dissemination and impact in the field.
Funded to a maximum of £500 per individual or consortia this funding is aimed at enabling a 10 short term projects (initiated in 2017, to be completed no later than end 2018). The funding may part-fund or wholly-fund the activity in question. The Society particularly welcomes applications which enable new work to be engaged in which otherwise would not be carried out and/or cannot be funded from other sources. We would also welcome applications that address concerns at the lack of diversity of both content and audience in the field
Examples of projects to be funded:
- Exhibitions focused upon an aspect of the history of education;
- The cataloguing of history of education archives in the field;
- Day conferences on themes related to the history of education;
- Funding which enables a postgraduate researcher or early career researcher to fund their first publication.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but it is not intended that these funds will be used for the general costs of research or conference attendance.
Successful applicants will be expected to acknowledge the Society in any publicity and/or publications arising from funding, and provide a written report on the activities undertaken should be forwarded to the Secretary of the Society no longer than 6 months after the completion of the work undertaken.
